Monthly Wine Tasting at Aloft Chesapeake
Your day is busy, and sometimes you just want a break. But instead of doing the usual routine, do something a little different by making plans to attend the Monthly Wine Tasting at Aloft Chesapeake. This popular festival happens every thirty days or so and attracts a wide range of professionals, locals and visitors who enjoy the experience of an excellent glass of wine. This monthly wine tasting also features hors d'oeuves and live music.

Chesapeake Eggstravaganza
Every Easter, there is plenty to celebrate in Chesapeake with the popular Chesapeake Eggstravaganza. Children 8 and under can enjoy a big Easter egg hunt, games, fun, and even snap a photo with the Easter Bunny! There are several events scheduled as well, like a magic show, music, dancing and much more. Don't forget to bring your Easter basket for your eggs!

Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge Birding Festival
The coming of spring signals many natural occurrences, and the Neotropical songbird migration is most definitely one of them. Bird lovers who are fans of such species as the Black-throated Green warbler and the Swainson's warbler will be delighted to catch a glimpse of them, and many more, when they attend the Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge Birding Festival. Held every May, this popular free events attracts not only birders, but also families and individuals who participate in the many activities such as bird walks, owl prowls, bus tours and workshops.

Battle of Great Bridge Reenactment
History gets repeated every December in Chesapeake with the Battle of Great Bridge. Held every year, this two day event festival one of the pivotal battles of the Revolutionary War at the Great Bridge bridge. Re-enactments of the battle originally fought on December 9, 1775 are the main focal point. You will also want to check out replicas of the Revolutionary War encampments, demonstrations, character portrayals, and historical displays and lectures. There are also several artisans on hand selling their wares, plus crafts and fun for the kids.

Indian River Christmas Craft Show
Take the guesswork out of your Christmas shopping by getting something unique for everyone on your list when you visit the Indian River Christmas Craft Show in Chesapeake. Held every November, this popular event brings together many talented artisans who display and sell their work. Santa is also on hand for photos with the kids, so make sure to have them bring their Christmas lists! There are also concessions available for purchase.

Bring Your Own Kayak Festival
Every June in Chesapeake, it's B.Y.O.K., as in Bring Your Own Kayak! This is a highly adventurous and unique festival that families and kayak enthusiasts look forward to every year. It offers a chance to explore the waterways of Chesapeake in your own kayak, or you can rent one from the Northwest River Park to take part in these kayak guided tours. You'll be paddling to some of the best places in Tidewater. A 15-minute advance check in is required. You must make an a reservation to participate.
